Mohamed Sabry Amer
I am an incoming PhD student in the Department of Political Science at Washington University in St. Louis. I am interested in government intervention in social media in the MENA region. Methodologically, I am interested in studying how researchers can use large language models in a reproducible and statistically robust manner in the social sciences.
Prior to joining WashU, I was a Research Associate at J-PAL MENA, where I worked on the implementation and analysis of randomized controlled trials (RCTs). I earned my B.A. in Political Science from Cairo University in 2025. During my undergraduate studies, I was a Sawiris Scholar at the University of Chicago (2024–2025), focusing on data science and empirical social science, and completed a virtual exchange in machine learning through the MO:VE program at the University of Marburg.
